In An
Evening with Dan Levenson Dan has a vibrant way of relating
the music, dance and stories he has learned the old fashioned
way. He tells of growing up during the folk era of the 50's and
60's, and of sharing his parent's involvement in music. Dan also
relates his own experiences in exploration of the southern Appalachian
music and dance traditions, much of which he learned first hand.
He even tells of bringing his own children into the fold to continue
the traditions for at least one more generation. He waves a fabric
rich in the color of a time and place where music is still a
part of people's daily lives. |

Hands-on
workshops are a great way to learn. Dan teaches clawhammer banjo, Meet
the Banjo ™, fiddle, old time guitar, clogging,
jam etiquette, ensemble playing and more. Workshops are possible
for all levels from rank beginners to performance level - please

This group was a big hit in England at the Friends of Old Time
Music and Dance Annual Old Time festival in Gainsboro, England.

Fun - Old Time Music, Stories and Dance - Dan asks us to
remember a time before electricity and automobiles when people
entertained themselves. Making their own music, not listening
to CDs, was a way of life. At square dances, barn raisings, or
on the front porch, music permeated every aspect of settler life.
Dan paints a picture of life a hundred years ago, and illustrates
